Today, we begin the relocation of Kenya to Elephant Sanctuary Brazil. Kenya is the last captive elephant in all of Argentina and we can’t wait to share more of her journey!

Thank you, Scott and all, for sharing this fabulous moment in elephant history with us. I think when people hear the word “zoo”, they think of U.S. zoos and don’t realize the damage being done to the foot pads and psyches of these poor captive creatures. Can’t wait to watch Kenya emerge from her crate at Sanctuary!

The last zoo study, done by zoos, found the same damage is caused in most zoos as well.

Very happy Kenya is finally on her way to sanctuary. I’ve been following the sanctuary for a few years by now and it is great to see that elephants put their trust in people and are able to do this trip without sedatives. On the contrary, they are happy to stay in their crates for hours after arrival.
I hope now that Sandro is allowed to do the much shorter trip from Sorocaba. Sadly Tamy, though he was being trained and things were being arranged for a future relocation, was not able to make it and died in captivity.
Wishing all the best to the teams that are giving a great example of what it means working as a single team with a purpose.
