Sunday Smile: A Relaxed Breakfast With Kenya and Pupy

This week’s Sunday Smile is all about what happens when you let go of expectations. Kenya (left) and Pupy (right) have been having breakfast together in the barn for a few days. There’s always a gate between them, since Pupy still seems somewhat insecure around Kenya, but they both are choosing to be there. The two are calm and there’s no evidence of tension between them. Much of that is thanks to Kenya, who is adjusting her energy to meet the situation. There’s beauty approaching a situation without preconceptions or human wants, and letting things evolve in the most natural way possible. Kenya and Pupy are excellent examples of that.

    Kenya’s initiative ability to calm her high energy, is helpful for Pupy. I imagine Pupy and Kenya can share theirs lives together as friendly companions.❤️❤️

    The body language is cute: Kenya facing PUPY head on…. Pupy stays at a side stance. But this is very sweet of both, I can see good outcomes ahead!

    For an ele who has lived alone for so long Kenya is amazing and Pupy is looking so relaxed in this video. Lovely to see them have a conversation and share breakfast. These two girls are so smart and beautiful, how could not love them ❤️🐘🐘❤️ What a great way to start the week, thanks GSE 💫

    I think people need to be more like elephants. These girls have been through so much in their lives and are still willing to take a chance. Kenya learning to moderate her enthusiasm and Pupy willing to keep giving her a chance is really very beautiful. We already know the remarkable changes that can happen at the sanctuary, just look at Guilly. I think our two African Queens will be friends, but it will be on their own terms and in their own time. This really shows how amazing these girls are. Kenya who has never been around another elephant still knows she needs to be calmer around Pupy and Pupy, who has spent so long being submissive to another is learning to stand on her own and realize though she may want a friend she also doesn’t want to give up her newfound independence. While we all may have wanted Kenya to get to the sanctuary sooner, it actually gave Pupy the chance to learn more about herself and her own strengths and needs.
