Late Afternoon Walking With Kenya

It didn’t take too long for Kenya to decide she was ready to venture outside the barn. We are keeping it open all the time now, so she can gain a sense of comfort from a familiar place. She goes in and out regularly, and has walked much of the yard and played in the mud wallow (aka Club Mud).

We had to put the drone up today because Kenya ventured deep into the habitat. She has returned a few times to the safety of the barn, but her confidence is definitely growing. Kenya and Pupy have shown a calm interest in each other, but we are giving Kenya a full day to get comfortable with her space before making an introduction.

We can only imagine what is going through her head… “I can walk… and walk… and walk…. there are places in the distance that I can’t even see but yet – I can go there!!!!” No sharp barriers, no ditches just so many places I can go…. If I want to. Welcome home Kenya, blessed be 🙂

question can Bambi and the other girls hear Kenya and how are they doing

      • Sara says

They can all hear each other, but the Asian elephant ladies haven’t really shown interest yet. But they were the same way when Pupy arrived. It’s not unusual.

You guys are just the absolute BEST!!! I along with thousands of others watched the transport. You have such amazing attention to detail no matter how tired you are. You also are wise enough to stop when you should, to rest and regroup.
Kenya is a precious, big girl with a ton of soul and gentle energy. She and Pupy will do fantastic together!!!

You are right Scott, how can you not love her!! I can not imagine the depth of emotion that her caretakers from Mendoza and the people from the Ecoparque must be feeling at this moment. To see this beautiful girl who they love and have taken care of for so, so long, finally be able to have room to wander, trees to crash through and mud and grass and another companion. To know she has a future filled with her own choices! Thank you to Argentina, the Ecoparque and to all of her caregivers for loving her so much they let her go.
