Kenya ventured out of the barn this morning and made her way to Club Mud, the mud wallow in the African enclosure. The barn remains open, giving her the freedom to return whenever she feels the need for comfort or security. She’s been vocal, expressive, and is doing incredibly well. We’re giving both her and Pupy more time before any introductions. It’s all about letting them adjust at their own pace.

Help take extra special care of an elephant that is close to your heart.

me!!!

July 10, 2025 at 12:22 pmIt’s impossible to know the emotions that Kenya must be feeling, with her feet on earth instead of concrete, coming to grips with a totally different, natural environment, and even the possibility of an elephant buddy after all those years alone. And likely understanding that her new carers want only the best. for her. 😊💚😊💚

July 10, 2025 at 2:17 pmOne smart cookie! Kenya appears to be programming every inch to memory. Out to explore, then into her safe space (aka the barn). Then back out again to explore further, then back into her safe space. Rinse and repeat. 🙂 Fascinating and joyous and all the feels. What a morning! Love to all from Florida, USA.

July 10, 2025 at 9:17 pmShe seems like she is going in and out because she can’t believe she has the freedom to do so. It must be so great for her to feel the earth and nature and explore it at her will.
