Pupy’s First Morning at Sanctuary

After a long, emotional first day at the sanctuary, Pupy is slowly beginning to settle in. She’s more rested and this morning she greeted the team with lots of low rumbles. She’s dusting and eating and drinking plenty, and the care team is impressed with how well she seems to be settling in. Her energy is soft and lovely. Her crate has been removed, and soon the gates to Yard 1 will open — giving Pupy the chance to explore the open space at her own pace.

Thank you for all the wonderful videos and comments during Pupy’s journey (AKA Freedom Ride) to ESB. What a change from last night to this morning! She even took the time to chase the dog! Wait until she “meets” the tapirs and the giant ant eaters.
What do you know about her stubby little tusks, and where will you be putting Kuki’s tire?

We’re not sure exactly where the tire will go, but we’ll put it in the habitat with her.

This is where all afternoon captive elephants should be, not in concrete zoos!
