Pupy is Out of Her Crate!

After several hours of contemplation, brave Pupy took her first steps onto sanctuary soil. She needed time to process what was going on, which makes perfect sense considering her past in captivity. It takes a lot to trust after years of being guarded. She will sleep in the barn tonight, monitored by cameras. Caregivers will open up the gate and give her access to the yards tomorrow after she’s had some time to rest. For those who want to see the moment she stepped out of her crate, we recorded the live stream on YouTube. If you’re ambitious, you can watch the whole thing – or you can skip ahead if you are curious.

Thanks to everyone who made this relocation possible. Without our sanctuary family, none of this would have been possible. You have our sincere gratitude for all you’ve done. Cheers to Pupy and a new life filled with wonder and exploration.

What an extraordinary feat of determination, care, and ultimately love. So very very well done. And poignant for those of us following to know she’s now safe and secure in her forever home.

Oh my goodness!!! I am proud Pupy and I spent the day together. We went grocery shopping, doctor’s office, picked up mail, and had a virtual meeting!!! SOOO proud that I saw her first steps with all four feet out. Such a brave, intelligent beautiful girl. She really thought the entire decision through, and finally realized it was HER choice. Absolutely love each and every team member, and I am so very thankful for GSE.❤️🐘
