Sanctuary dogs Bugsy, Minnie, and Molly love running along the 4-wheeler – especially down muddy roads. Milo the lamb has been known to join them at times, but only on occasional short runs to the African barn as a treat. We don’t know if all dogs love mud, or if ours just have a particular appreciation for it, but there are always dusty and dirty dog beds on the porch.
Here they’re excitedly running ahead of Scott, on his way back from the front gate, which is a couple of miles from the elephant habitats. Minnie (in the middle), is crouched in hunting mode and likes to stalk the four wheeler at times, but eventually gave in here and chose to run with her sister. (Yes, Molly is her littermate.) They playfully sprint ahead, then wait for him to catch up, then take off running again. It’s a dog version of chase and you can see the joy it brings them. Sanctuary dogs are happy dogs.

April 26, 2022 at 9:15 pmYes, dogs love to run. I think they feel free when they are running. Can you imagine some dogs never get to run?
They live in the owner’s home and only go out on a leash. The sanctuary dogs are lucky!
Thank you for all you do there at the sanctuary!
