It seems there is always some sort of construction going on at the sanctuary. That makes for delighted dogs who love dirt – running through it, making a bed of it, and rolling in piles of it. It also means lots of sweeping and dirty dog beds, which is decidedly less fun for the humans.
Here, you can see that Bugsy, Molly, and Minnie have made a comfy spot to relax just outside of the new treatment chute. A dog’s life indeed.

December 12, 2021 at 2:36 pmThat you were able to shoot them all in one photo is pretty remarkable.. I’m sure they don’t stay still for very long……..Do they ever have nasty fights? Over food, or toys, etc….Do the Tapirs respect them? Or do the dogs run from the Tapirs?
If you gave the pouches a bed of hay to lie on outside, would they bed down there?

December 12, 2021 at 9:24 pmthe dogs don’t fight with each other- we’ve never had a fight. the tapirs keep their distance from the dogs and the dogs do the same. as far as lying on hay, bugsy likes playing and jumping on the bales, and will lie on them for a moment, but they prefer dog beds and the couch. 😉
