A huge rainstorm passed through the area recently, and it seemed to appear out of nowhere. While we are used to experiencing straight-line winds and hail in the US, we’ve never seen anything like this storm in Brazil.
A few trees were injured but, luckily, there was no severe damage. The elephants were all safe and, in fact, seemed to really enjoy the excitement. They got nice and muddy and silly, as they often do when it rains. Scott came across Lady shortly after the storm passed, to bring her some watermelon and hay. She was bright and cheery, and walked his way speedily. Scott was pleased to see how high her spirits seemed. For the elephants, there is nothing like a good, cleansing rain.

Look at that cheeky smile! I love that Lady is enjoying the wilds! She seems to be getting a bit more fuzzy up top?! Perhaps her pate has been disguised much of the time with her cute hay hats.

She does seem to be getting a bit fuzzier on top. If only we could bottle some of what she has!

I’m so happy that Lady is Happy. Hopefully, if her feet gets in the mud it will make her feet feel better.

She no doubt will spend plenty of time squishing her feet in the mud. She does enjoy it.
