When we announced Bambi’s rescue and shared that it would cost around $19,500 to bring her home, we were hoping to be able to raise the funds during what is a difficult time for many. Our phenomenal sanctuary family came together to donate that amount in less than an hour. To be exact, it took 53 minutes from our email going out, to having her transport funded fully (our staff was watching in amazement).
There are no words to express what is in our hearts right now, as we try to convey our gratitude to each of you. Thanks to your donations, likes, comments, and shares, Bambi is coming home to Elephant Sanctuary Brazil.
Bambi is in Ribierão Preto, which is in the state of São Paulo. Her zoo is around 790 miles (1,270 kilometers) from the Sanctuary. As she is located within Brazil, we don’t need the CITES permits that cause delays with our international rescues. We hope to bring her home within the next 30 days. We have a lot of logistics to work out to make that timeline a reality, but we are beyond grateful to know that the cost of her journey is not a concern, thanks to your overwhelming support.
At the time of this posting, the total you have donated is $38,620. Additional funds raised will go toward Bambi’s care once she arrives and supportive items we are currently ordering from the US. Your donations are giving Bambi a priceless gift. Words could never be enough, so when you watch Bambi take her first steps here in a few weeks, know in your hearts that her gratitude at each blade of grass, drop of rain, and moment shared with another elephant is gratitude to each of you. You have made her new life not just a possibility, but a reality.
Thank you ❤️

September 2, 2020 at 3:16 pmLOVE this family of supporters but these ele’s wouldn’t have a name or experience the taste of freedom without GSE’s vision and constant support. So THANK YOU for all you do for these magnificent creatures. I, for one, am extremely grateful that there are people and organizations such as you, and the staff at GSE, that give a voice to these and other living beings. My support – as small as it may be – is worth every penny. We believe in your work and the way you bring us in with your educational and lovely posts. Can’t wait to witness Bambi’s transformation in freedom!

Lots of love and super big hugs from Minnesota ???

September 2, 2020 at 4:12 pmGracias a ustedes, Scott y Kat!❤

September 2, 2020 at 4:13 pmHey Kat and Scott, such great news! Curious, is there still another elephant left at that zoo> I was not clear if there still was or not. Congratulations!

September 8, 2020 at 7:06 pmHey Deb, yes, Maison is still there. The lawsuit that was brought forward for Bambi, by another organization, is the reason Bambi is being sent to Elephant Sanctuary Brazil. This lawsuit was only for Bambi, because of her deteriorating condition. If Maison is relocated, it will have to be from a separate action taken.

September 2, 2020 at 5:20 pmIt’s just a little step of kindness to destroy the shackles of slavery. Change torture and wrongfully captivity into a life in freedom. Nothing is too much trouble to help another glorious mammal return to the Circle of Life.
Your neverending caring and nurturing are in one word priceless. ???

September 2, 2020 at 5:30 pmTruly gives me goosey bumps to think of another elephant soul taking her first steps to a new life on GSE grass. Freedom to just truly be an elephant. I pray her health has not deteriorated badly, and there are not life threatening issues to overcome. If that is the case, then she will be in perfect hands at GSE to overcome those issues.

September 2, 2020 at 7:49 pmSo happy for Bambi. WeI can’t wait to see it all unfold – thank you for letting us all bear witness to these amazing creatures, and the realizations of their freedom in Sanctuary. It is profoundly moving, to see what you do, and to watch these beautiful ladies blossom. Thank you so much.

September 3, 2020 at 1:13 amAs an NGO Director, I truly understand the need for all donors and friends, to unite and pull together for an immediate cause or crisis! I am so impressed and so happy for such a phenomenal response for Bambi! And as it should be! Sadly, my “giving” credit card was just compromised, so my support will be delayed until I receive my new cc . . . Boo Hoo . . . Such a wonderful community support system for GSE, and such a wonderful and special group of sweet and unique elephants! Bambi will be so loved by her “Aunties”!

September 3, 2020 at 4:59 amWhat a wonderful thing to happen. I know I am only a small part of this group and hope that my monthly donation does help in some way. What is nice is to know so many other people care about the elephants and if it was also not for you at the Sanctuary there life would be so very different. Little did I realise when I sat up till 3am watching the rescue of Ramba I would become part of your supporters group and what a wonderful group it is. Also yourselves the dedication and love you have for them is phenominal. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. xx
