Sunday Smile: Maia and Guille Bottoms

This week’s Sunday Smile is a video of Maia and Guillermina standing near one another. You can tell which elephant is Guille by her long, hairy tail. The moment takes place near sunset, for a very tranquil mood.

That afternoon, Bambi, Mara, Maia, Rana, and Guillermina were close to each other for several hours, but eventually broke off into groups. Later, our caregivers heard noises – Guillermina’s signature chirps and squeaks. When they went to check on the two, Guille seemed to be trying to get Maia to explore more of her playful side, without much luck. The two elephants had a small interaction, but then snacked and dusted until they walked off down Middle Road. We hope you enjoy the tails and the bums that they’re displaying!

We can see how important a long hairy tail is whacking the flies- lucky Guille poor Maia , does the hairless tail mean it’s been cut off way back inner zoo or circus days? Or anything else? Yes, lovely tranquility!

there’s all sorts of reasons for lack of tail hair- some are as innocent as elephant play.
