Pocha and the Elephant Shower

Not all elephants enjoy getting bathed with a hose. Likely, that is because they have been sprayed with water in the past when they didnโ€™t want to be. For that reason, we have an โ€œelephant showerโ€ in Yard 1, near the barn. If you want to give an elephant time and space to see if they want to get clean or cool off, you can just turn on the shower and walk away for a few minutes. That gives the individual the option to walk under the water as their choice.ย

Up until this week, Pocha has not used the elephant shower, but finally decided that she wanted to give it a try. She stood under the water for about 5 minutes, just relaxing and splashing a little. The afternoon was warm and Pocha seemed a little sleepy, so she may have seen the shower as an easy way to cool off without putting in too much effort. As you can see, she seems very relaxed in her personal bath.

Guille had been in it before, but any time she went in, Pocha just stayed off to the side and watched.

Tomorrow It will be one month since the girls arrived to sanctuary and I wonder which of these 30 days it has been the best for Pocha or for Guille. For me each day itโ€™s more exciting reading about them. This video is fantastic. I guess many of us didnโ€™t know about this shower and the way it works. Best Spa in the world!!!! ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–

WOW. VERY EXCELLENTโค๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘A very great enrichment to have. Have any of the other ladies tried the SHOWER?? I’ll bet Pocha will encourage Guille to try it. The only way I can think of how they get to turn on is if they stand on a certain area to trigger the flow of the shower water on them. Please advise if this is the way it is set up for the Ladies.
