Maia’s Fantastic Hay Hat

Maia and Lady are known for their natural head decorations and Guillermina is starting to follow in their footsteps. But hay isn’t purely decorative when it comes to elephant “hats”; wearing it in this way protects them from sun and helps keep bugs at bay. So, while it looks like Maia is accessorizing in this photo, she is actually using hay as a natural protectant – though some of it is perched a little precariously on top. We hope you enjoy this Sunday Smile all week long.

If you had bugs landing on your body all day and no way of swatting them away, you’d do this too! Ingenious. Natural instincts take hold for all these creatures.

Perched at a very Maia type riske angle….even if it is simply a perfectly straight protective device! Lovely Photo, many thanks ;D
