This morning, Bambi had her foot treatments done along the fence in Yard 5. About halfway through treatment, Maia walked nearby. She was watching Bambi but being very respectful and giving Bambi the space she needed. (Maia also got a special treat for being so considerate during the entire encounter.)

After Bambi was finished, she and Maia walked off together towards Mara. Seeing the relationship between Bambi and Maia grow is encouraging, especially considering that Maia once seemed fairly intimidated by Bambi’s protective tendencies toward Mara.. Maia’s previous struggles to reintegrate herself into the sanctuary herd seem to have paid off to the tune of new and growing friendships.
