Maia and Guillermina Get Silly

Maia and Guillermina have been in silly mode lately. But when you approach them to take a photo or video, they tend to stop right away. It’s almost as though their playtime is their little secret, and they want to keep it that way.

But our caregivers did catch sight of them having a good time. The two of them had their trunks entangled and were rubbing and pushing up against one another. There was a lot of good-natured kicking and Maia gently tugged on Guille’s tail. All of this caused Guillermina to spin around in a circle, full of high energy. Both of them seem to know when it’s okay to tease each other and have a little rough play. We’re not exactly sure who started it, but Maia seemed to be the one pushing Guille’s buttons. There’s nothing like having a friend to roughhouse with when you’re in the mood. It seems to have made for an exciting afternoon for both Maia and Guille.

P.S.: There’s a magic that surrounds sanctuary and the healing power it can hold. Global Sanctuary for Elephants is able to offer the elephants the space and time they need to reconnect to an essential part of themselves. Please consider making a year-end gift to GSE, which will give them a chance to be Wild at Heart.

This is wonderful to hear especially since Guille has been through the horrible loss of her mother! Guille is finding trust and love with her herd sisters and it just makes your heart sing! Happy New Year one and all can’t wait to see what the new year brings woo-hoo! 💞🐘🥳
