For those of you who have been following Kenya’s journey to sanctuary, we hope you will enjoy this video of her having a fun and relaxing moment in the barn. It took Kenya less than 30 minutes to decide to exit her crate – one of the fastest exits in our experience. She’s explored the barn a little and has dusted and laid down in a giant dirt pile. Kenya is changing colors before our eyes!
She’s also had a bath with the hose and some tasty snacks. Her African elephant energy and mannerisms are already making themselves known. Kenya has started vocalizing and her rumbles are deep and resonant. We’ll share more soon, but let’s welcome our new girl to sanctuary!

Help take extra special care of an elephant that is close to your heart.

July 9, 2025 at 1:49 pmKenya-boo, I can’t believe this day has come. Many years ago I heard about your situation and also found out about ESB. I have supported ESB with what I can and watched a few elephants come, and sadly go, and no Kenya yet. And now here you finally are. My heart is bursting for you, my dear Kenya. I pray for many, many days of joy at sanctuary for you.

July 9, 2025 at 4:43 pmWelcome to your new home Kenya. By the looks of things, you are going to be one happy elephant at GSE. I’m hoping you and Pupy become good friends. Congratulations to Scott, Kat and all involved in her move to GSE…so much hard work combined with commitment and lots of love.
As with all the other lovely elephants at GSE, ‘ve been following Kenya’s trip from Argentina, but I missed seeing her exit her crate at GSE. I rather suspected it would be a hasty exit for Kenya..lol. I’ve tried YT and GSE websites with no luck. Where can I see it? Thanks.

July 9, 2025 at 5:37 pmKENYA DAY IS HERE! THANK YOU OUR FABULOUS GSE TEAM AND DEDICATED ARGENTINA TEAM.
Watching Kenya take her first steps into the barn was pure joy to witness. This is my 6th ele rescue watch from start to finish and I must say she is the strongest and bravest and her exit from the crate was the quickest I’ve ever seen. She is very clever, a problem solver and a demonstrative girl too! I laughed so hard when she slammed that barn gate back open to her crate! She was not having it! Her tugging on the chains too haha! You gave her that cute little win and only closed it again when she had more confidence. Watching her be playful soon after leaving her crate caught me off guard. Was not expecting her to be this confident and accepting. in the sand, in her bath getting silly and those loud rumbles was thrilling to see .Kenya you had so much fun this morning and your silliness made my heart so happy

July 10, 2025 at 12:25 pmCorrection. I was reminded that Bambi came out of her crate in about 8 seconds. I forgot that. So Kenya is my 2nd fastest crate exit. She’s such a energetic doll
