The elephants have turned into zombies, not literally, of course. Scott has been joking that the girls aren’t ready for the holidays to be over. Mara looked so content in the pond this morning, and so disinterested in getting out, that we fed her there. We laughed that Elephant Sanctuary Brazil is now a fancy resort with poolside dining and a swim-up bar. Mara seemed very content eating her snack in the pond.
Even Bambi, the elephant we can count on to always be zooming, has been slow today. She is bright-eyed but just as sluggish as everyone else. It’s normal for everyone to have a slow day occasionally, but it’s somewhat entertaining when everyone has a zombie-day on the same day.
Photo of Mara eating in the pond.

January 1, 2021 at 6:31 pmI think that all animals & humans Big & Small on January 1, are all battling a kind of celebration fatigue. For the lack of it or For the overload that 2020 brought to each of us, in one way or the other. Today, the first day of 2021, has at least for me, created a Brain Fog and a Slow Down, as the count of emails and texts continues to rise. Not terribly motivated by this day, but will stumble on and try to accomplish SOMETHING! If I only had a mud hole and warm sunshine . . . I would be a better person.

January 2, 2021 at 3:04 amThey must feel the change of old and new like all animals have stronger senses than humans.
Luckily they are free unlike all ‘working’ Elephants around the world. ??
