Lady has continued to seem happy spending time near the barn. She has been very bright and inquisitive and has been watching Bambi closely.
Bambi has mostly been in Yard 5 while Lady has been near the barn. The two will observe each other from neighboring yards. Lady doesn’t seem to know quite what to make of Bambi and her speedy awkwardness and enthusiasm.
Lady was the first elephant to see Bambi after Bambi arrived, but soon after their initial meeting, Lady disappeared in Yard 4 for weeks. The two elephants hadn’t seen each other since Bambi first came. Lady seems very intrigued with Bambi; Bambi also seems curious about Lady.
Lady isn’t approaching her or getting very close but seems to enjoy observing Bambi whenever she is near.

January 3, 2021 at 2:23 pmI should imagine that when lone elephants meet after being isolated for so many years, they would not really know how to behave with each other. Fear, perhaps?

January 4, 2021 at 2:58 amI think Lady is happy in her own way. She has the company of her own kind but at a distance and seems OK with knowing they are around but feeling safe in her own space. This is our Lady, her choice. It’s good to know she is interested in the others and Bambi probably fuels Lady’s inquisitive side with her enthusiasm for all things. Another form of enrichment for Lady who can walk away when she wishes. They are all complex and beautiful in their own way.
Thank you for this lovely blog, Elaine.

January 4, 2021 at 8:54 amIt seems like Bambi didn’t bring any bad baggage with her but appears to have left everything behind and is soaking up the sanctuary. Perhaps the more Lady sees her and her very positive energy, it is intriguing to her and she is also a little curious. I believe this can’t be anything but good! I just love Bambi and this could be what brings Lady out. I’ve always loved Lady too and felt like she has brought alot of bad with her tht no one knows about, maybe Bambi will help her to get rid of it too. Positive energy going your way Bambi, Lady, Rana, Maia, and especially Mara during this time. There is a lot of love headed your way! ????????

January 4, 2021 at 11:15 amMs Lady Bug, she’s a lovable, adorable nosey neighbor. She loves to watch everything going on around her, & when she’s had enough of that, she goes off to yard 5 and takes a breather for a few weeks. How wonderful Sanctuary must seem to her, to ALL of them. Thank you for the great gift of SANCTUARY you all have given these beautiful souls.
❤?❤?❤?❤?❤?
