Happy New Year 2026

As morning broke over the sanctuary sky and we saw the sun start to peek over the hills, the birds began to awaken into their twittery chatter–everything from macaws and songbirds, to aracari and ani are almost always around and can be found throughout the habitats. They’re vocalizing in their own ways, seeming almost like accompaniment to the elephants’ trumpets, squeaks, and rumbles. 

When we look down from the sanctuary offices, we get a view of the Asian habitat, and sometimes you can see an outline of one or more elephant bodies in the morning light. The girls are emerging from their evening naps and looking for a sunny spot to graze. Mornings like these, when the gentle sway of elephant bodies are highlighted against the luscious green of the trees, remind us that renewal is not only possible, but it’s necessary. Happy New Year from Global Sanctuary for Elephants. Here’s to a joyous 2026!

    Beautiful start to a New Year! Best wishes to the girls, and everyone at GSE. I’m looking forward to new elephants joining the current residents. What a great photo – the elephants enjoying the freedom of the sanctuary. What a beautiful sight!

    Happy New Year to all of you. May this year bring lots of healing and good health to the Elephants, bring new elephants to the Sanctuary to live out the rest of their lives in near freedom.
    Thank you all for everything you do for them and sacrificing your lives so that they can have freedom for the rest of theirs.

    With the past heartbreak of 2025 behind GSE , their staff and all supporters. I am wishing for a 2026 year of good news, and good health for Scott, Kat and all staff members. Especially to the beloved girls that are privileged to reside in the care and nurturing of GSE sanctuary.🐘❤️
