Guille Finds a Small Puddle

As we’ve talked about before, the elephants love a good mud bath. The funny thing is that they often prefer smaller mud wallows or puddles to the larger ones. Sometimes it seems as though the smaller the better.

Since keeping cool is a sanctuary theme these days, Guillermina is splashing herself with some mud from a miniscule mud wallow, even though she has other options available to her. As she is busy having fun splashing around and getting a few good scratches in, Mara stands next to her, calmly enjoying some hay. It’s a positive step that Mara is eating so close to Guille; it shows that trust is growing between the two of them.

All captive elephants deserve sanctuary. We’re doing the absolute most we can to make sure Tamy comes to ESB, but there’s only so much we can do.

How Guillermina is changed from the zoo. From living on concrete to now, good food, friends & muddy baths at the tips of her toes! GSE is true heaven. Many thanks to you & crew for all you do for these girls!
