Lady is continuing to do very well. She is still too nervous to get too close to or to greet other elephants. She continues to be very excited to see the others (especially Ramba), but, once she gets too close, she turns around and leaves the area. She is very spunky, very inquisitive, and developing the confidence she needs to get closer to the other girls. She is definitely trying, and she is definitely improving. It seems like something she wants, but also isn’t ready for yet. At this point, the focus is making sure she feels safe and comfortable so that she can develop the confidence to take that next step with the other girls. It’s been a long time since she has seen another elephant, and she has only been here for a few days. As we always say, it’s about her now – her speed and her choices. For the first time in her life, it can be all about her choices. This is her choice right now, and we are more than happy to respect it. We will continue to keep you all updated as her confidence is growing!

December 2, 2019 at 10:18 amThank you for never pushing any elephant to do what they are not ready for. In the end it must make for deeper bonding, Lady has three elephants to meet and that must be overwhelming at times.

December 2, 2019 at 12:10 pmAs above Kelejan’s comment.
There is audible communication between them all which is a grand start, who knows as you say what her history has been, or whether it’s that she cant run because of her feet.

December 2, 2019 at 1:51 pmThanks for posting these two videos with commentary today. It’s nice to know what’s going on with her and to see the day- to-day interactions between Lady and you as her new human caregiver. It must be a great comfort to her to have something/someone familiar in this strange new beautiful place as she works up the courage to join the others.
