Global Healing Day 2026

Mara and Rana in the sanctuary sun

Today, Saturday, April 25th, marks the first Global Healing Day, which is described as a day dedicated to catalyzing personal, cultural, cross-species, and ecological healing. Everyone, everywhere is invited to pause and be present, to reconnect with the natural world, with your inner self, and with the global community.

The celebration invites you to create space for stillness and awareness, whatever that may be for you. For some people that might mean meditation, moments of silence, journaling, story-sharing among generations, or something as simple as a quiet walk in nature. Every small action connects us with each other across the miles.

In the spirit of intergenerational and inter-species healing, our caregiving team will be enjoying a small fruit snack with the elephants today–watermelon, pears, bananas, and papaya. In the human world, sharing food across a table creates a communal experience that impacts all of the senses. We aim to create a small, simple moment with the elephants that we hope will provide that same sensation. We acknowledge that we are a group of individuals who, while we may not all be the same species, share one Earth. In this space, the elephants are our elders and, if we appreciate the quiet moments with them and keep our senses open, they may offer up some wisdom along the way. For more information on Global Healing Day, visit their site: https://www.globalhealingday.world/
