Sunday Smile: Three Faces in the Barn

April 26, 2026

Up-close faces of female Asian elephants Maia, Bambi, and Guillermina. Bambi is squeezing herself between the two other elephants

On mornings or afternoons when we’re doing treatment on the group of three elephant friends–Bambi, Guillermina, and Maia–they might take up residence out by the training walls, in the yards near the barn, but are also known to share barn space together. For this Sunday Smile, we caught a picture of (left to right) Maia, Bambi, and Guillermina, all in the barn for their post-meal care sessions. Maia and Guille were standing side-by-side, but Bambi charmingly made her way over to squeeze her way into the middle of the group.
