Five Girls Along the Fence Line

As Scott explains in this video, it had been a while since all five elephants had shared close quarters with one another. But on this afternoon, they had been together for nearly the entire day. It’s possible that the dynamics that continue to evolve have taken yet another turn. The elephants seem content in closer company, casually enjoying their hay – with the exception of Guillermina who wants to share everybody’s hay.

You are absolutely right. Even when times might be awkward, it’s important to let them express themselves honestly instead of trying to push the two elephants together, as some facilities might. Their individual choices are essential to the sanctuary mission.
