Day 5 Update: Kenya’s Home Stretch

Today is day 5 of Kenya’s relocation to the sanctuary and we are in the home stretch! Scott went live earlier on Instagram to give a small update. Everything is going well, Kenya is doing great, and we expect to get to the sanctuary tomorrow.
We’ve had several people symbolically adopt Kenya, which will help the sanctuary provide the care and nutrition that Kenya will need as she begins her healing journey. Thank you! This is an update on Kenya’s relocation from Ecoparque Mendoza, Argentina, to Elephant Sanctuary Brazil, a 2,800-acre natural sanctuary. Kenya was brought to Mendoza at 4 years old and has lived her entire life alone in a sterile zoo environment. Now, at 44 years of age, her life is about to change dramatically. She will have the space to roam, make her own decisions, and explore natural behaviors like foraging for food and bathing in the mud. In addition, for the first time in decades, she’s going to have the opportunity to have a new friendship with another elephant, Pupy.

    Oh Kenya. I feel like I’m holding my breath until you get home. I’m praying that your legs are strong to finish out this trip. There is a nice sand pile waiting for you, honey. Love you lots!
