Bambi and Guillermina Play In the Rain

We got some very welcome rain this week and, as we’ve mentioned before, rain tends to make the elephants extra spunky. Bambi was getting very squishy in the mud when Guillermina found her – and her excitement in that moment was so evident; she could hardly hold it in.

In this silent video from our observation camera, you can see Guille pushing herself up against Bambi, putting her bottom in Bambi’s face, and generally being very silly. Bambi seemed game for the whole experience. She’s getting quite good at understanding Guille’s way of playing and finding a way to participate.

At one point Guillermina walked away and we assumed that Bambi would take that time to refresh and relax, but instead she followed Guille, seeming to want more play time. They spent a good amount of time in playful mode. Though Bambi’s muscles might have been a little sore the next day from her Guille workout, she certainly seemed to be full of excitement the afternoon before.

Even though Guille has never seen her ancestral homeland of India, she sure has her Bollywood dance moves down to an art. 😆

It shouldn’t be a surprise that animals have a playful side, but it’s always amazing to see it with elephants because of their size and majesty.
