After several weeks of rain in the forecast, then a couple days of cloud cover and cooler temperatures, the sun came out in full force this morning. It got fairly toasty, which meant the elephants were seeking various ways to cool off. Bambi barely finished her breakfast in Yard 5 before moving down to the water trough to give herself a little shower. 

Maia, who likes to make sure Bambi is in her vicinity in case she is needed, joined her shortly thereafter. The two stayed at the trough for at least ten minutes, alternating between having cooling drinks and covering themselves with clear, chilled water from the container. Maia was rather artistic with her spraying, managing some near-perfect arcs of water over her head.
