The Elephants Meet at the Square

This morning, when we were preparing everyone’s breakfast, we discovered that all five of the elephants were standing at “the square”, which is the area where all of the yards join together. This is the first time in a while that they’ve all met up in one place, so there was quite a lot of rumbling and trumpeting and other chatter.

After a few minutes of that, the girls started to slowly walk away toward different yards. We took advantage of the direction each group headed to determine who would explore which area of the habitat that day. Following their lead in situations like this allows us to keep things fresh for them as they go about their day.

So uncommon. I wonder what they know that we don’t.

Maybe the elephants had some complaints, and they wanted to present a united front to the officers of GSE….A show of force is ALWAYS good…..
