Sunday Smile: Showing off Sanctuary Flowers – and Mara!

October 5, 2025

Female Asian elephant Mara stands under a Large Ipe tree with purple flowers on the right side

If you’re looking for a Sunday Smile this week, we’re bringing it to you in the form of a contented-looking Mara. It’s winter here, nearing the end of the dry season, so there are a lot of brown leaves interspersed with the green ones. But, no matter what, something is always blooming. In the past week or two, these beautiful purple blooms (from what we believe is a purple Ipe) have been popping up everywhere. Mara is the perfect model to show off today’s sanctuary colors.
