This week, our Sunday Smile comes courtesy of Guillermina and her first banana stalk that we know of. We once had a little mini-garden near the wildlife rehabilitation area with several banana trees. The trees bore lovely fruit, but our resident goats–Sally and Jorgie–got the better of them.
Many times we cut the elephants fresh palm leaves in the morning. Some caregivers suggested that we try giving the girls leaves from the remaining banana trees, and Guille thoroughly enjoyed her serving. They may be on the menu for many mornings to come.

Help take extra special care of an elephant that is close to your heart.
