Yesterday, we talked about Rana and Mara’s frequent vocal parties. They often find themselves in circumstances where trumpets and rumbles are a must; there’s just so much to celebrate. Any excuse for a party these days is a good excuse.
This video was taken after Rana’s checkup in the treatment center. She came into the first stall, but her session was set up in stall two. She stopped and rumbled toward Mara, who was in the nearby pasture. Even though the two remained close to one another, they had a major trumpet party after they separated just a bit. Scott thought about opening up the stall to let Rana out, but then she decided to step into the correct space to be examined. Afterward, she walked out of her exam area and into the yard, where she met Mara again. You can see that Mara excitedly lifts her foot toward Rana, seemingly as a gesture of affection. You can also hear the post-party squeaks that she offers, as her golden eyes shine in the sun.

Help take extra special care of an elephant that is close to your heart.

September 19, 2024 at 3:00 pmDo any of the girls lie down and sleep? Or do they mostly nap and sleep standing up? seems they stand so much during their lives, it is really amazing! Thank you! ❤️🐘❤️

September 19, 2024 at 4:55 pmYes, the girls do lie down when they sleep – though generally more at night than in the day. They take a lot of standing naps when the sun is out.

September 20, 2024 at 12:30 amI love that the girls know they won’t be getting in trouble for doing the wrong thing. All their humans show them love and patience, even when they’re full of mischief.

September 20, 2024 at 2:43 pmWhat a great uplifting video of the girls showing their love and affection for each other. I especially love the end about “golden eyes shining in the sun”, so I viewed again, and it was so true and beautiful. Once again, I will repeat……so very thankful for GSE, Scott, Kat and ALL the staff that love and care for these wonderful, deserving girls. 🐘❤️
