It was a busy morning at the annex in Yard 4, where we sometimes do checkups on the elephants. There’s also a small yard there where Mara and Bambi especially like to graze. Bambi hasn’t always been a fan of the annex, but is getting much better about spending time in the space. She made her way through the chute and into the yard, but decided she didn’t want to come out for a while because the grass was so lovely.
Once Bambi decided to leave the annex, Guillermina wanted to go in. However, like Bambi once was, she’s not completely sure about walking through the chute and into the grassy area. She seems to have trust issues with those kinds of spaces, as she demonstrated when she was initially getting used to the chutes in the barn. Much like she did back then, Guille was stopping with three of her feet in the chute and then backing out. This continued for a while as caregiver Shirlei watched. Guillermina seemed entertained, so Shirlei let her continue on, both of them amused with the entire process.
