From Michele: Bambi Loves Her Palms

Caregiver Michele has been working with Bambi lately and is enjoying her spunky spirit. Sometimes, especially when surrounded by Maia and Guille, Bambi can seem like she has a more passive temperament. But she still has moments now and then when she shows her more feisty side. Today, Guillermina saw some of that side of Bambi, as Michele shares here:

One of my favorite things at feeding time is the moment Bambi finds the palm I’ve given her. She certainly can hear me coming with it but, due to her limited vision, she doesn’t always see exactly where I put it. I typically tap it on the bar or say something to help her find it. She starts feeling around with her trunk, and the moment she discovers it, she snatches it, pulls it in, and starts to take it apart. She’s really been loving her palms lately.

Shortly after this video was taken, Guille went over and was helping Bambi eat her palm. At one point she tried to grab the whole thing, and Bambi snatched it back. Guille got the picture and walked away to eat elsewhere.

    ha ha! 😝. Bambi won’t stand for any of Guille’s naughtiness! I sometimes think Guille just likes being cheeky to Bambi, though she’s infamous for “sharing” others food! It must be really nice for you to have that connection with Bambi, makes all the hard work of gathering the leaf and trawling it to where ever she is worthwhile 😊

    BAMBI. SAYS **NO GUILLIE IM NOT SHARING. TODAY SINCE. U TRIED TO GRAB MY PALM. IF U BE NICE GUILLIE U CAN. EAT MY LEFTOVERS** I SURE WISH BAMBI HAD HER SIGHT BACK. SHE WAS LIKE A BIG PUPPY DOG. VERY PLAYFUL AND FUNNY MOMENTS. SAD SAD. AFTER A FEW YRS IN PARADISE HOME SHE GETS BLIND.. JUST NOT RIGHT THIS HAPPENED. I FEEL SO SAD FOR GAMBI YET VERY GRATEFUL MAIA IS LOOKING AFTER HER AND GUILLIE ALSO

    Thanks Michelle for this, it made me smile 😃. It’s lovely to hear that Bambi is enjoying her palms so much and I so enjoy hearing that she is still her spunky little self.
