Follow the Leader with Guille and Bambi

In the past, Bambi was one of the elephants who acted as a guide for Guillermina, giving her corrections when she was being a bit too much, and occasionally participating in some playful tussling. That shifted a while ago, now that Bambi is having increasingly more difficulties with her vision. However, just because she isn’t as comfortable being as overly playful with Guille these days doesn’t mean that Bambi doesn’t enjoy Guille’s company. As with many relationships, they can shift over time.

She demonstrated that a few days ago, which you can see here. There was a gorgeous gold light from the setting sun, and Bambi, Maia, and Guille were relaxing and grazing in Yard 5. After a couple of minutes, Guille started to walk away toward the woods. Bambi actually followed her, leaving Maia to contentedly snack on her own for a while. Eventually, Maia headed in the direction of the other girls, joining them along the tree line for some foraging and browsing in the shade.

    How this little heard has changed. Bambi following Guille is seriously something I’m not sure that anyone would have predicted even just a short time ago. Bambi’s confidence in Guille shows just how much Guille has grown. Also, the fact that Maia didn’t follow immediately after Bambi pretty much confirms her trust in Guille’s also and Guille’s entrance into adulthood. My how Poocha would be proud of her baby girl! There can be no question that this is a cohesive unit built on respect, trust, and love.

    What a lovely evening. Thank you for sharing. It’s fascinating to watch their interactions – they carefully watch what each other are doing and make decisions.

    It’s so beautiful there and this was so wonderful to see. Guille is so calm and loving towards Bambi and Maia too; it’s lovely to see the transformation and she looks wonderful too, she’s definitely come into her own there and that was always the idea. I hope that she continues to help Bambi and I’m sure she will, they’re friends.

    Guille is maturing into an outstanding young lady. Obviously, she is honored and respected, which is so very beautiful to see and feel.!
