In the afternoon, the caregivers were checking on the elephants and found Mara, Maia, Rana, and Bambi all at the water trough, having just participated in a bit of a splashing party. Everyone was thoroughly wet and seemingly in a great mood. Caregiver Tina had heard a number of small parties coming from that direction earlier in the day, so she guessed that the fun was courtesy of the now almost empty water trough.
Tina stopped to refill the trough and heard Guillermina headed in the direction of the others. Guille was vocalizing, which caused more chatter among the girls. Sometimes when Guille joins the group, she’ll introduce a little harmless mischief which causes the others to vocally respond. In this case, she was moving quickly in their direction, announcing her arrival.
As the “Powerpuff Girls” headed off in another direction, having thoroughly covered themselves in water, Maia and Guille stayed at the trough having a drink. It was soon filled with fresh, cool water – ready for another party to begin when the time was right.

Help take extra special care of an elephant that is close to your heart.
