In honor of Bambi’s one-year anniversary of arrival here at Elephant Sanctuary Brazil, we wanted to share a bit of her journey – from her transport from Ribeirão Preto in São Paulo, to her earliest days at the sanctuary, until today. She has experienced such great physical healing and is making impressive strides in her emotional work. An elephant who was a shell of herself, once so afraid of her fellow zoo-mate has become an energetic and eager friend to Mara and Rana. We look forward to watching her grow into herself every day. We hope you do, too.

September 27, 2021 at 2:34 pmI followed Bambi’s story and cannot believe the concrete building that she used to spend her time in. The first day she left her crate at the Sanctuary was so amazing. Her gal pals and her running through the Sanctuary. It is so beautiful to see.

September 27, 2021 at 2:38 pmWas Bambi the one who hit her head on the rails inside the travel crate? Is that a smile on her face in the Rain?

September 27, 2021 at 4:56 pmOh! The bath!!! She does not look – or act – at all like the same elephant!!! And she’s helping Mara too, I think? Good to have a “younger” girl at GSE! ❤️🐘❤️

September 27, 2021 at 6:24 pmWhat a lovely tribute to Bambi, and what an amazing transformation she has made! Bambi was the first rescue I watched after discovering GSE and I was totally blown away by the patience and loving care that was given to her by Scott and team to make her trip the best possible for her. I’m completely hooked as a follower and supporter as a result of what I have seen you guys accomplish and your whole philosophy for these precious creatures. I made an additional donation for Bambi’s Re-birthday, and I am so anxious for P & G to be rescued!

September 27, 2021 at 9:34 pmMany of us are shedding tears at this video! Amazing Bambi and amazing wonderful Sanctuary!
I have loved Bambi since I first saw her in her pen in Sao Paulo…frightened and thin. Here she is one year later…personality galore and a delight to behold!

September 27, 2021 at 11:15 pmSo wonderful, thank you. It gets me every time I see her kneel down in the mud and enjoy the water when she arrived. Love to all of you, and thank you for all the love you give back. I am so honored to be along on this journey. ❤️🐘❤️

September 28, 2021 at 8:59 amIt was rescue of Bambi which introduced me to GSE as well, like so many others here. Loved her to bits from the very first video I watched. So fearful and sad hiding in that barren barn…that was heart breaking. But her flying out of that transport crate into the Sanctuary, and her following days so beautifully captured for us to see, were truly amazing. Thank you. And now I can’t sit still awaiting the news that our girls from Mendoza are loaded and on their way home…:-))))

September 28, 2021 at 1:13 pmWhat a beautiful soul has blossomed. Bambi, t he thin frightened girl in the dimly lit shed no longer exists. Now we see a beautiful, smiling, happy girl that has learned how to be a friend to her girlfriends. The healing power of sanctuary is proven once again, and wonderful to see. I absolutely love this girl.
