On this lovely, rainy morning, Scott met up with Mara and Rana around breakfast time. The elephants had been playing in the dirt in Yard 4 near the creek, and you can see how incredibly muddy they both are. The kind of mud they’d been playing in is a different color than what they often wear. This is more red in nature than the brown we are used to seeing. 

Mara took a moment to sniff at Scott’s camera, giving us a unique view of the inside of her nose. While the two weren’t as vocal as we know they can be, they did seem rather pleased with themselves and the mess they’d managed to make. As Scott said, they’re beautiful.
