A Significant Step Back for Thailand

newsarticle

With parts of the world taking progressive action in regards to elephants, Thailand is choosing to take a significant step back. Thailand is planning to allow the export of elephants once again.

The article states “For the elephants to be exported, he said that it must be assured that they will be treated properly by experts in accordance with the standards set by the World Association for Zoos and Aquariums.” So it would seem that zoos may already be on the short list to receive elephants.

We generally don’t post petitions, but it has been suggested that public influence was the main reason for the initial ban 10 years ago. Let’s hope it can have an impact once again.
