A Few Steps Further for Baby

Baby’s care team noted something interesting today: Baby showed up at the barn with some of the clay mud from her pond on her feet and face. It’s obvious that the mud is from the pond, since the shore there is currently gray and not the typical red. Once Baby gets in and starts mixing up more dirt with the water, the clay will settle, and the top layer will turn red, like the other ponds at sanctuary. 

All evidence seems to point to the idea that Baby may have waded a little bit into the pond (even if just slightly) and sprayed herself with water. We haven’t seen her do it in person or on the observation cameras, but she’s showing us evidence that she is bravely expanding her horizons. 

P.S.: For those who are curious, Baby did have a pool in her enclosure at the amusement park, but she tended not to use it. As she continues to take little steps into new sanctuary adventures, she might be embracing a fresh outlook on activities past.

    Sanctuary pond mask is so much better! Baby girl is learning that now and I’m sure she’s gonna love it as she goes to it more💗🥰

    Baby is making new memories and doing a good job she is a sweetie Sara is Baby like in her teen years you know like a teenager

      She’s not quite as much of a “teen” elephant as Guillermina is. She’s a little older, though. We’ll see what her personality becomes around others in time.

    I am thrilled to see Baby playing and entertaining herself. I am hopeful that she will work her way into the pond in the not too distant future and maybe even submerge herself in the water💦🐘
