Just like yesterday, the caregiver team went to give Bambi her eye drops in the morning and silliness prevailed. Once again, Maia and Bambi were waiting near the barn, though Guillermina was off on her own somewhere. The two elephants decided to spend some time in the little sprinkler by the fence. 

It was a clear day, one of the first dry days we’d had in Mato Grosso for a little while. We thought the girls might enjoy the idea of being dry for a bit, but they disagreed, seeking out the easiest way to get soaked that they could. At first, Maia seemed the most interested in getting sprayed with the water, but Bambi eventually got close and joined in the misty fun. Both Bambi and Maia were light and silly and easy and eventually everyone settled down so that Bambi could get her drops. It’s inspiring to be around individuals who can find joy in the smallest of moments, and these girls definitely do.
