Sunday Smile: Maia Hugs Bambi’s Face

The caregivers report that many times when they drive up and approach Maia and Bambi, Maia is in a pose where she’s hugging Bambi’s face. It happens so often that Maia will occasionally stop eating (it’s true!) to wrap her trunk around Bambi’s face, as a sign of affection. It’s beautiful to see that friendship and that joy and light in their eyes every day now. 

This week’s Sunday Smile video highlights that sweet action and gives a glimpse into the vocalizations that have been abundant for the last couple of weeks. The environment feels light and easy. In this clip, a very sleepy Maia hugs Bambi, who is making lots of big rumbles. The blowing and other noises are Maia. Seeing them together is a gift we will never take for granted.

    They so deserve this period of rest, comfort, and affection in their later years, especially as the early ones were so fraught with abuse and torture.

    So very sweet!!! Maia is reassuring her friend that she is there and loves her. What more could you ask for, not a single thing!!! Love all our girls so darn much, they are all so special!

    oh this is beautiful!!! We don’t have to worry about Bambi’s failing eyesight anymore when Maia’s around!! She’ll be there for her sister-friend!
