Sunday Smile: Bambi’s Big Bite

September 7, 2025

It’s Sunday Smile time and we’re bringing you this week’s joy by way of Bambi and her big bites. We’re deep into the dry season at the sanctuary which means that there’s not quite as much greenery around as usual. As you can see here, that doesn’t stop the elephants from finding some fresh spots for grazing. Bambi is showing some impressive grass munching skills here, as she rips up giant chunks of grass, showing us all how it’s done.

Its nice to see ALL the elephants eat whatever fills them up…..
I am waiting for an answer to my question last week. Are there any MORE elephants in zoos, circuses, etc, in the other countries of South America which GSE is looking at to bring to the sanctuary?

We did respond to your question last week. There are a number of elephants that could potentially be brought to sanctuary and we’re always in conversation with individuals and organizations about how that can be done. These things can be delicate so we’ll share more as things progress.

Just another day in the life of an elephant, grazing in nature. Something so calming and beautiful, especially reflecting on what Bambi’s life, and the others, were like in the past.
