Overnight, Maia and Bambi crossed over the creek and into the back of Yard 5–so they seemed a little sleepy the next morning after a night of walking. It was rainy and cool, with the rain stopping just before breakfast time. Afterward, the sun came out and things turned pretty warm. Maia repeatedly fell asleep resting on the fence, while Bambi dozed next to her. Eventually, both elephants were resting their trunks on the fence together. When the two ladies woke up, Maia went straight down the fence line and started munching on some leftover snacks from the morning. 

Here, you can see Maia enjoying some grass as the rain starts to taper off. She’s a little drowsy, but has more than enough energy for some gentle morning grazing.
