It’s a Barn Party!

After breakfast, Scott encouraged Bambi, Maia, and Guillermina to come into the barn for some foot trimming. All three of them are accustomed to having footwork done, and they tend to be relaxed with their caregivers during each session. In fact, Maia and Guille are both known for napping when they are getting treatments done.

However, on this day all three ladies perhaps decided that being together in the barn was enough of a reason to celebrate. It started with all sorts of vocalizing, but as is typical, once the phone comes out, the volume goes down. The blaring trumpets turned into quieter noises, and Maia and Bambi made some squeaks and rumbles as they nuzzled together. As Scott mentions in the video, the girls seem well on their way to having a sleepy morning after their few moments of excitement. Eventually, Maia heads over to the spot where she’ll get her footwork done, perhaps inspired by the treats that come with it. In the end, all three elephants got a good evaluation from their caregivers and went on their way, perhaps to a lazy afternoon together.

P.S.: For those of you who are still making your end-of-year giving decisions, we invite you to consider donating toward Pupy and Kenya’s relocation. The two elephants will soon begin their journeys to sanctuary, and you can help us prepare their pathway home. Every dollar brings them one step closer.
