Help take extra special care of an elephant that is close to your heart.
Every GivingTuesday, people around the world come together to support causes that are closest to their hearts. For us... it's elephants.
Thanks to our incredible community, we have exceeded our GivingTuesday goal and raised $69,023.55 to support the expansion of the habitat the Pupy and Kenya will soon call home. Thanks to your generosity, we are now even closer to completing the expansion that will provide all the female African elephants that we welcome at Elephant Sanctuary Brazil the space they need to begin their healing.
A Special GivingTuesday Announcement
This GivingTuesday, we are incredibly excited to announce that the import permits have been received for the long-awaited relocation of two female African elephants to Elephant Sanctuary Brazil–Pupy and Kenya! After years of unanticipated legal efforts, we now have the approvals we need to move forward with rescues.
Pupy and Kenya will soon be coming home to sanctuary!
Our GivingTuesday Mission
As we celebrate this significant milestone, there is still plenty of work that lies ahead. This GivingTuesday, we set out to raise funds to support Room to Roam—an expansion that will increase the female African elephant habitat by 70 acres, creating the space needed for Kenya and Pupy to finally heal. Thanks to the incredible strength of our sanctuary family, we’ve exceeded our initial $50,000 goal! Yet, there’s still more to achieve.
Every additional gift gets us closer to the completion of the habitat and ensures Kenya, Pupy, and the female African elephants to come have the ideal space to heal, grow, and thrive.
Funds raised in excess of our goal will continue to be directed to the Room to Roam expansion.
Creating Space for Transformation
The first three yards of the habitat are already built, providing enough space to welcome Kenya and Pupy to the sanctuary. However, they will need more room to truly thrive. Space is essential to their transformation, facilitating mental and physical healing and supporting the body’s return to its natural state. Elephants come alive when they experience new sights, scents, plants, and animals, and when they are given the freedom to make choices.
African elephants are typically more active and place greater demands on their habitat compared to Asian elephants, who are more selective in their eating habits. As a result, they require more space to maintain a healthy and balanced environment. Expanding the female African elephant habitat is essential to ensure the land that supports them remains sustainable, while giving the elephants the room they need to thrive.
Help us fund the habitat expansion for Pupy, Kenya, and other female African elephants to come.
Another Beautiful Way to Make an Impact
This year for GivingTuesday, we’re also partnering with Alex and Ani to provide even more ways to support Kenya and Pupy. Shop their elephant collection and enjoy up to 25% off select items, with an additional 25% of your purchase donated to GSE through Friday, December 6.
Matching Gift Challenge
Thanks to the generosity of a longtime GSE supporter from Arizona and her matching gift, every donation up to $20,000 was doubled, making your generosity twice as impactful. Join us in creating an expansive home for Kenya, Pupy, and the other female African elephants to come—there’s still more to be done!
