Maia, Guillermina, and Bambi have a relaxed demeanor around each other these days. There’s a playfulness and lighthearted spirit that surrounds them lately, which shows their level of comfort with one another. You can see in this video that Guille is laid back when standing next to Bambi. Bambi seems to be enjoying Guille’s company, even touching Guille’s mouth gently with her trunk. (For her part, Maia is leaning against a tree and taking a nap.) The morning was full of mud spraying, dusting, snoozing, and lots of snacking. After years of life on human terms, the girls finally get to have “boring” lives – ones without expectations, that they live on their own terms. For elephants, a lazy day is the best kind of day.

October 11, 2024 at 4:45 pmi believe there is a level of understanding and appreciation they show. i think we’ve seen the most sincere response from simply ‘seeing’ them and allowing and appreciating them for being whoever it is they are- good, bad, or indifferent. when those things happen, your relationship grows exponentially. and that’s the greatest gift they can give.
