Recently, Maia and Bambi were in Yard 5 for breakfast and by late morning they had crossed the creek. They didn’t walk the shorter, easier path to get there, instead going the long way. By the end of the day, they were back in their original spot for dinnertime. Guillermina wasn’t too thrilled to have her sisters so far away for the day, but she knows how to cross the creek. For some reason she didn’t follow them.
Scott did Bambi’s treatment at the end of the day, after her trek to the back of Yard 5. As we know, Guille isn’t always as respectful of her big sisters as she probably should be. Sometimes, if she wants some extra attention or sees someone else getting food or affection she will disrupt Bambi’s treatment a bit. But this time she was super respectful. She kept roughly a 2-3 meter distance from Scott and Bambi. He rewarded her with a couple of treats for her positive behavior, so she would know that he saw her being respectful.
When Guille went to cross behind Maia, she made a big circle around her, keeping an eye on Maia’s personal space. At the end of Bambi’s treatment, all three were together. They were hanging out, touching, socializing, and vocalizing. Guille is learning respect in her own time and in her own way, but she definitely is figuring things out.

Help take extra special care of an elephant that is close to your heart.
