Rana has started to vocalize more now that she doesn’t seem worried about overstepping her boundaries in her relationship with Ramba. Sometimes Ramba will be 30 yards away and Rana will bellow, calling out to her friend, even though she is right there. Funnily enough, it scared our maintenance guys who couldn’t see the elephants, just heard them, and thought they were fighting. It’s a big noise.
Ramba isn’t vocalizing back at this point, except for rumbles, which she is full of. She does come over, so it’s not like she is ignoring her, she just hasn’t become super vocal yet. We think if Maia finds her silly again, and goes through her repertoire of noises, maybe it will encourage Ramba as well.

November 17, 2019 at 4:24 pmTheir friendship is truly wonderful. You can almost feel Ramba giddy inside with happiness. Hopefully Maia will want to join in soon. As you say, she will when she’s ready. Love these girls so much. ??????
