Wednesday Evening: Stopping For the Night With Sandro

From the very start of the day, Sandro has been doing well. He’s been eating, drinking, and defecating, and he’s been calm every step of the way. After an early morning start, he’s likely ready to get some sleep. The humans definitely are!

Our departure from the zoo was delayed when protesters blocked the road in an effort to prevent the truck from leaving. Thankfully, security escorted us through, and from there, everything has gone according to plan.

We decided to call it a night a little early tonight so Sandro and the rescue team can get some well-deserved rest.

Wishing Sandro & the GSE team very safe, peaceful travels. So sorry to hear about the commotion and protesting throughout this process, that is the product of manipulative, misinformed individuals seeking attention. Scott, you amaze me continuously with your patience, calm demeanor & compassion. Good night all ~~ tomorrow brings the start of a beautiful new life for dear Sandro 🐘💚🩵

I can´t believe people, what happen in people minds to react like that? We as humans have done enough damage to animals, plants, the planet.

This longawaited journey to freedom for Sandro is testament to those wonderful human beings that never gave up – and will never give up – on such a beautiful and gentle soul and all of the others trapped in misery by appalling humans
