In the northern hemisphere, it’s Fall, and, in North America, that means Thanksgiving, which is a day for gratitude and appreciation. Canada had theirs in October, but today is the day for the US to officially celebrate something we try to celebrate every day.
As a sanctuary, we have so much to be grateful for – the joy the elephants bring us each day just by Being, our donors who make it all possible, and our supporters who give us the strength and love to keep going day after day. You all believe in us, which makes it easier for us to believe in us, and for that, there are no words.
We know that Maia, Rana and Ramba have so much to be thankful for – we see it in them every day, in their relationships with each other and with the earth around them. Their lives had so little, and now each day they have space, other elephants, and choice.
We know Lady has a lot to be thankful for – she doesn’t know it yet, but she will start to realize tomorrow how her life is about to change forever – in a way she never could’ve dreamed of – in a way she never dared to dream. So, we are grateful to witness her journey, and everybody’s journey, but, most of all, we are grateful to share that journey with each of you. Thank you.
This video is Maia, for those who don’t know her or couldn’t tell from the roundness of her belly 🙂 This video is perfect because it shows how wonderful even the ‘smallest’ of actions can be and how much joy all of the girls bring. She is not struggling to get up, for those who might think so, she considers getting up and then decides against it. So she lies back down with gusto (like most things she does) but has to make sure she squishes her belly just the way she wants it. Love her. ❤️
